With the UKs biggest stadium at his disposal, Michael Simmons manages new business opportunities for Meetings & Events at Wembley Stadium. With an established experience in sporting venues across England and Wales, Michael is a key figure in the industry and works to increase the profile of the iconic venue, develop commercial relationships, win new business and promote the Wembley Stadium brand for caterer and event diary contractor Delaware North.
In late 2017, Michael identified that although the national stadium carried with it a trusted and premium product to event owners in large blue chip organisations, it was seen as intimidating and ‘out of reach’ to new, small and growing businesses.
With this in mind Michael launched ‘Think Inside The Box’ - an initiative which invites smaller enterprise into the venue to use the stadium facilities at a budget conscious price. The offer provides SME businesses with impressive but affordable event space to meet potential clients, customers or partners and the national stadium benefits from the opportunity to learn more about the changing industry at root level as well as the potential of being a small part of a future giant.
Michael is also a member of the Football Association’s Sustainability Team (FAST) on the community and charity programme helping the home of football engage with local businesses.
